Leonard inspires Botswana

Leonard Cheshire was indeed an inspirational man. He visited Botswana in 1988 and jointly with our Former President, the late Sir Ketumile Joni Masire laid the foundation stone for our Mogoditshane Rehabilitation Centre. In his short and concise speech he said,”I encourage the Executive committee and management to develop strategies that would provide a wholistic approach to rehabilitation which includes economic empowerment for People with Disabilities. Users must strive to live independently and be able to look after themselves after rehabilitation. Your Centre must network to benefit from the expertise of other organisations and learn from best practice”. He concluded by encouraging us to do baseline surveys to inform us of the way forward. Our organisation will forever cherish those moments with him.
