Le Court & Leonard Cheshire Disability was founded

Leonard Cheshire offered a home at to Arthur Dykes, a former community member who was dying from cancer.  Swiftly Arthur was joined by a number of other people needing support.  Leonard Cheshire was supported by their first care professional, a young social worker who came to work at .  This was to become the first residential service for disabled people, and so May 1948 is seen as the founding date of Leonard Cheshire Disability.
