When Leonard Cheshire visited Singapore in 1988, I was a volunteer editor for the Far Eastern Regional Council's magazine for the Cheshire Home in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. I sat in the Singapore Cheshire Home's lounge with him on the same sofa. At that time, I was only 25 years old. As we chatted, I found him cunningly witty! His young aid-de-camp could only smile while I was trying to keep up with his charm and his crafty intelligence! I gave him my business card and he kept it in his pocket. I was told by my boss, another volunteer by the name of Brother Kevin Doheny, that it was a fantastic and successful meeting with our beloved Leonard Cheshire!
